About Turkey Digital Nomad Guide

Built by someone who lives the digital nomad life in Turkey.

The Story Behind This Guide

I'm a digital nomad and consultant based in Izmir, Turkey. Over the past 10+ years, I've built an international consulting practice, worked with 100+ entrepreneurs, and navigated the complexities of global taxation and business setup.

When I moved to Turkey in 2022, I discovered something remarkable: the service export exemption. For eligible foreign service providers, it offers an 80% tax exemption—potentially reducing your effective tax rate to 4–6%.

But here's the problem: there's no comprehensive guide in English. The information is scattered, often in Turkish, and full of outdated advice. I spent months researching, consulting with tax professionals, and implementing the system myself.

This guide is everything I wish I'd had. It's the result of that research, real-world experience, and feedback from dozens of digital nomads who've gone through the process.

Why I Created This Guide

Problem 1: Information Scattered & Outdated

Turkish tax law changes frequently. Most English-language resources are outdated or incomplete. The official sources are in Turkish. There's no single, comprehensive guide for digital nomads.

Problem 2: Misinformation & Hype

Some websites promote Turkey as a "tax haven" without explaining eligibility requirements or risks. Others make unrealistic income claims. I wanted to provide honest, data-driven information.

Problem 3: High Barrier to Entry

Setting up in Turkey requires navigating visa applications, tax registration, and banking—all in a foreign language. Many entrepreneurs give up or make costly mistakes. A step-by-step guide removes that friction.

My Solution

A comprehensive, honest, data-forward guide that covers visa options, tax structure, banking, cities, and common pitfalls. No hype. No guarantees. Just practical, actionable information.

My Philosophy

Honest

I disclose limitations, risks, and disclaimers. I don't make income claims or guarantees.

Data-Driven

Every claim is backed by research, tax law, or real-world examples. No hype.

Practical

The guide includes checklists, timelines, and resources you can actually use.

Professional

I recommend consulting licensed professionals. This guide complements, not replaces, professional advice.

Accessible

Written in plain English for non-accountants. No jargon or unnecessary complexity.

Evergreen

I update the guide regularly as Turkish tax law changes. Purchasers get updates for free.
